Privacy
Bird Nest Toolbox collects as little data as practical and keeps tool processing on your device.
Usage analytics
We record the opened tool, time, and an anonymous visitor identifier. Signed-in activity may also link to a user ID. Google Analytics is also used for page-level analytics. Tool input content is never included.
Local processing
Images, PDFs, passwords, Markdown, JSON, text, and test answers are processed in your browser by default. Personality-test progress and Schulte best times stay in this browser.
Device sensors
The compass and level read device orientation after permission. The noise meter analyzes microphone input live after permission. Orientation and audio data stay on the device, and the noise tool does not record, store, or upload sound.
Online lookups
Currency conversion requests Frankfurter, IP lookup requests IPWhois, and mobile number attribution uses a third-party service through this site's Cloudflare endpoint. The relevant currency pair, IP address, or phone number is sent to that provider.
Account
You can register with a username, email, and password or sign in with GitHub. Local account emails are used for sign-in, and passwords are stored only as salted one-way hashes. Email verification and password recovery emails are not available yet. GitHub supplies your public name, login, and avatar. The session cookie keeps you signed in.
Comments
Comments do not require sign-in. Guest details are submitted for moderation; signed-in comments are linked to the account ID and use available account profile details. Approved comments may show your name and website, while your email stays private. A random browser identifier tracks pending comments and limits abuse. Guest profile details are stored in your browser only if you choose to be remembered.
Your choices
When Do Not Track is enabled, custom tool usage events are not sent. You can also use all basic tools without signing in.
